6 Business View Caribbean 34 September 2015 - Business View Caribbean Highlander Trading Corporation is proud to be one of the primary sources of raw material and equip- ment to Edgechem Jamaica and have watched them grow and successfully expand over the years. Highlander began almost 20 years ago with a goal to become one of the preeminent suppliers mainly to the paint and coatings industry as well other in- dustries such as plastics and inks. Its geographical territory includes all the Caribbean Islands, all of Central America and some countries in South America. In addition to representing some of the premier, tier one manufacturing houses in these industries, we wanted to bring a level of service and code of ethics and conduct that customers could appreciate and value. Its two partners, William (Bill) Hay (President) and Glenn Browning (Vice President) decided from the beginning to make these values a major part of the corporation’s ethos and worked diligently to build the company on a foundation of quality products and incomparable customer service. Through the years the company has continued to grow and build on its successes but could only do this with the support of its customers and clients who have continued to work with us and allowed us to be part of their successes too. In 2013, Glenn our Vice President passed away but his presence continues to be felt throughout the or- ganization today as the company continues along the path he helped forge. Always looking to grow and expand its corporate presence, Highlander has over the last few years taken the decision to expand its portfolio and get into other markets and as such trades in: • Basic Chemicals • Textile Chemicals • Water Treatment Chemicals • Pulp and Paper Chemicals • Cement Grinding and Concrete Admixtures Towards that goal, we have taken on representa- tions of additional manufacturing houses in order to bring top quality materials and support to vari- ous industry segments and to build another cadre of satisfied customers. In addition to our well placed location in Miami, Florida we have established a shipping hub in Istan- bul, Turkey where the consolidation and loading of various raw materials takes place into seagoing containers for ultimate destinations throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. In today’s global economy, these far flung locations allow us to take advantage of prices and quality ma- terials from both the East and the West allowing us to deliver first quality materials at competitive prices with dedicated customer service.
