The Barbadian bourse, which was re- incorporated in 2001 in accordance with the Securities Act 2001-13, is regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and designated as a Recognized Stock Exchange by Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in the United Kingdom under section 1005 of the Income Tax Act. Considering the size of the domestic and regional securities market in the CARICOM region, the BSE has trained its sights on international listings, an effort that has triggered several significant initiatives, as Marlon Yarde, Managing Director and CEO at the BSE, explains.
