58 September 2015 - Business View Caribbean Resin Converters Limited A man on a mission to save the environment Christian Quesnel is a man with a very interesting prob- lem - as well as a fierce desire to solve it. Quesnel is the Founder and Managing Director of Resin Convert- ers Limited, a Trinidad-based company that is a world- class manufacturer of plastic packaging products for the chemical, food, personal care, and pharmaceuti- cal industries. Quesnel created Resin Converters in 2000. Today, it is the largest contract manufacturer of HDPE plastic bottles in Trinidad. The company’s 85 employees produce a diverse range of plastic jars, bottles, and other plastic products for large local and international corporations. Quesnel’s predicament is not that his business isn’t doing well. His quandary is that the very products that his company manufactures are the same ones that are responsible for harming the environment he so dearly loves. “I’m a boating person,” he explains. “I like the sea and I didn’t like what was happening in our en- vironment and our waterways because of the plastics in the environment. I wanted to learn more about the plastics industry and why they couldn’t be re-used.” At first, Quesnel attempted to either buy into, or buy out, a company that was already in the rigid plastic packag-
