7 BUSINESS VIEW CARIBBEAN VOLUME 8, ISSUE 9 Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is inviting persons in Barbados to register and participate in its global signature fundraiser, RBC Race for the Kids, which will return in a virtual format on October 16-17, 2021. Registration is free. Fundraising from the event will benefit youth and children’s causes around the globe, with 36 charity partners that participants can elect to support by making a personal donation. The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus is RBC’s local charity partner for the event in Barbados. “Community engagement is core to the purpose of RBC: helping our clients thrive and communities prosper,” said Rob Johnston, Head of Caribbean Banking. “That is why we are proud to be continuing RBC Race for the Kids in this RBC INVITES PARTICIPANTS TO EXPERIENCE THE 2021 VIRTUAL RBC RACE FOR THE KIDS global virtual format. We are excited to have the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus as one of our charity partners and thank them for their continued dedication to supporting youth through educational access.” Due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, participants will enjoy an innovative virtual experience with a new mobile app. After registering, participants can download the app to begin engaging with its many exciting, interactive features, including: Selecting a pre-determined distance to complete in their local community (with no set routes). Based on their chosen distance, the app will share a series of audio cues during the event to encourage and excite participants towards their personal finish line. OPENING L INES
