Why is DNV certification important?
Most countries have rules and regulations related to
safety for almost all products. The focus on environ-
mental aspects is growing, ranging from the use of haz-
ardous substances to energy efficiency and recycling.
Compliance with regulations is therefore no longer just
a matter of getting the design in line with product safe-
ty specifications, it relates to the whole lifecycle and
sustainability of the product. The common denomina-
tor for most of these rules and regulations is a need,
mandatory or on a voluntary basis, for an independent
body to examine the product and make a statement
about its compliance.
How long is the DNV certification for CCU’s valid?
DNV certification of new built CCU’s is valid for four (4)
years thereafter the units require re-certification.
Can an existing unit be DNV certified?
The DNV certification process is extremely ridged and
requires verification along the entire fabrication pro-
cess; from source of materials to testing of the fin-
ished produce. It would therefore be extremely difficult
to certify an existing unit as it may not be possible to
validate the pedigree of the material nor an audit of
the fabrication processes.
