Happy New Year, Executives!!! I hope you’re anticipating 2016 to be the best
year of your company’s existence. Are you ready for it? Have you put your
master plan in place? Have you eliminated those elements that harmed
your business in 2015? Have you created methods to solve the challenges
that you may face in 2016, based on the wisdom that you earned from any
losses you encountered last year? Are you prepared for the growth that your
master plan seems to project? How about your staff? Can they handle all of
the new implementations that you’ve brought to the table? Are they the kind
of staff that welcomes changes? Will you seek new talent that may bring a
fresh new work ethic to a team that has been used to doing the same thing
over and over, again and again, for the past umpteen years? Do you have a
team that welcomes new talent? Okay, okay, okay, I don’t want to start pick-
ing any scabs here, because the truth is that I could go on forever with questions that you’ve either considered
and have prepared for, or haven’t considered at all (which could mean another year of the same old program
that doesn’t encourage anyone to be enthusiastic about this upcoming year).
Well, hopefully, you haven’t closed up the magazine, due to me asking some painful questions that you simply
had to jump up and start addressing right away. But, as your favorite business magazine for executives in the
world (yes, I’m talking about us…who else?), it is the duty of Business View Caribbean to make sure that we
deliver thought-provoking content every time we deliver any content at all. However, with that said, let me tell all
of you what I know for sure, and without equivocation: 2016 will be the very best year you’ve ever encountered
in the history of your business! As an executive, this will be the year your company meets all of its demands,
silences all of its pessimistic doubters (stakeholders, board members, etc.), and solves all of its fiscal, staffing,
and production issues.
This year, your business will rise above even the optimistic expectations that you’ve set for your company, divi-
sion, or team. Within the first few months of this year, your projections for the end of 2016 will shatter those of
2015, and although you may have seen gloom for your industry or company in 2016, you’ll have blinked and,
just that quickly, you’ll be amazed at the turn of events that has caused your business to, not only stay alive, but
to revive, thrive, and strive for the best year that your company has ever had. This is what I see when I look into
the future of the Business Viewers who continue seeking greatness. If I can see this, please tell me that you can
too, because if you can’t, then you won’t…and if you won’t…why try?
I had planned to write a whole bunch of great words about our featured company, the US Virgin Islands Water
and Power Authority, which you’ll agree when you read the feature, is an excellent view of a well- run business.
However, I never really know what’s going to be on this page, until I look to see what actually has been written.
Hope you got something out of it, and if not, oh well, there’s always next issue!
Until then: plan, build, and continue to prosper.
