Here we are, heading into the fall quarter of another unbelievably challenging year and making plans for what promises to be a positive 2022. That’s the glass-half-full mindset that has rubbed off on me after hearing from so many business and community leaders who are super-focused on innovation, corporate culture, technology enhancement, workforce development, and all areas of sustainability.

Yes, many valuable lessons have been learned from the pandemic, but one thing that hasn’t come out of it is a “woe is me” attitude. It’s all about resilience, recovery, and getting on with the job at hand. Creating the best life we can for ourselves and each other.

In that vein of caring for the world we live in, the Ministry of Planning & Development for Trinidad and Tobago is addressing the adverse impacts of climate change. Among other initiatives and goals, they are advising that the average citizen has significant responsibility to adopt climate-friendly behavior by minimizing the use of electricity, car-pooling, recycling and minimizing waste generation, conserving water, and developing food self-sufficiency.

On the corporate responsibility front, we profile the good work of Kaizen Environmental Services (Trinidad) Limited, whose core business is to provide effective solutions to environmental problems across all industries – ensuring that organizations meet their environmental management objectives for protecting and preserving the environment.

When it comes to innovation, Jamaica’s preeminent designer and manufacturer of custom blinds and roller shades has a vision to create something that is genuinely new. Driven by the belief of delivering an experience that challenges the status quo, the Kingston-based Blinds Designs Limited team imagines a different, peaceful world filled with stress-free beauty and they strive to bring it your way.

The Hospitality sector is coming on strong in Puerto Rico, with the gorgeous new Aloft San Juan hotel making waves as an upbeat destination that celebrates style and redefines modern travel. Also based in San Juan, Rock Solid Technologies takes high marks as one of the leading information technology development companies in the Caribbean. They hire the best engineers on the island from the best engineering school, pay them well, make sure they feel taken care of, and give them challenging tasks from day one. As a result, they can take great pride in having the best talented team in Puerto Rico.

It’s our pleasure to showcase these inspiring examples of Best Practices in the realms of business and society in general. Be well, my friends, and enjoy the read. 😊
