RBC employees participate in community beach clean-up to celebrate World Environment and Oceans Day

BRIDGETOWN (BARBADOS) – JUNE 10, 2022 — RBC Royal Bank employees collected over 1,000 pounds of debris from Long Beach on the weekend in observance of World Environment Day and World Oceans Day. The initiative is part of RBC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and an investment in the future of the planet.

Dozens of employees gathered to clear garbage, and other debris, including glass bottles, aluminium cans, plastic bags, and Styrofoam containers at Long Beach. Team RBC collected 35 bags of debris weighing 1,300 lbs. in partnership with the International Coastal Clean-up and Caribbean Youth Environment Network.

“As a good corporate citizen, we understand our responsibility is not only to our clients and employees but also to the country and communities in which we serve to ensure they prosper,” said Robert de Silva, Managing Director. “The beach clean-up is an important initiative to preserving our natural resources and protecting our local ecosystems. Our RBC employee volunteers take pride in participating in these efforts because they understand the positive impact of the initiative in making a difference to the environment.”
