Antigua Computer Technology (ACT Antigua)

tech industry leader for the Caribbean region

Providing top technical expertise and support that leads the industry competition

Antigua Computer Technology (ACT) is a leading provider of IT solutions for businesses and consumers in Antigua, Barbuda, and other Caribbean islands. Founded in 1989, ACT has been dedicated to using technology to bridge the digital divide and help businesses and consumers function more efficiently and profitably than ever.

For over 30 years, Antigua Computer Technology (ACT) has been at the forefront of IT advancements on the island. As technology continues to evolve and shape the way businesses operate, ACT has positioned itself to meet the growing demand for computer and internet solutions.

ACT offers a wide range of IT and technology services and solutions, including cloud services, consumer electronics, cybersecurity, enterprise networking, software, support, and wireless solutions.

ACT was founded by Salomon Doumith in 1989, focusing on developing accounting software to assist various industries across Antigua.

As the demand for physical computers increased, ACT began importing and selling hardware to government departments and major businesses in Antigua and other Caribbean islands. As computers became more widely available, the focus shifted to internet connectivity.

Despite a decrease in the cost of computers, there was a lack of effective internet capabilities on the island. In response, ACT introduced the island’s first wireless Wi-Fi internet connection and became a licensed internet provider.

From late 2005 to early 2006, ACT participated in landing an undersea fiber optic cable, revolutionizing internet capabilities on the island. The company then began focusing on data center solutions, designing and building data centers for other businesses, including banks.

ACT later launched a private cloud, allowing companies to back up their data remotely. Today, the company offers unmatched colocation services from its data center, considered one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the Caribbean.

Over time, ACT has diversified its portfolio to include various services and solutions. The company currently holds four brands: ACT (Internet and technology solutions), RadioShack (consumer and enterprise goods commerce), AllMart – Local Marketplace (Antigua’s first online shopping platform), and GreenTech Solar ACT (battery storage and renewable energy solutions).

With its diverse offerings and decades of experience, ACT is well-equipped to meet the needs of businesses on the island and the wider Caribbean in the digital age.

“At ACT, we understand that every client and consumer has a diverse set of IT challenges,” says Salomon Doumith, ACT’s CEO and Managing Director.

“Our purpose is to help businesses in Antigua and Barbuda and other Caribbean islands with customized, efficient, innovative, and professional IT solutions. To achieve this, we have partnered with industry specialists and globally renowned providers to bring the best technology to our clients and consumers.”

“Our mission statement is “Bringing our community into the future through technology.” We strive to bring our customers closer to achieving their IT needs, positively impact all stakeholders, and provide the latest technologies to propel them into the future through constant R&D.”

ACT’s core values include delivering a WOW experience, striving for self-improvement, and building trust and harmony through communication.

“We differentiate ourselves by doing something a little unconventional, out of the box, and innovative,” Salomon Doumith adds. “We also strive for continuous learning and personal and professional growth. And we believe that open communication with each other and our customers foster trust, harmony, morale, transparency, productivity, and commitment.”

With a history dating so far back, Antigua Computer Technology (ACT) has long been at the forefront of technology advancements on the island. The company has built a reputation for providing top-quality technology products and services.

Salomon Doumith notes that over the years, the company has demonstrated impressive agility and an ability to “connect the dots” in technology, offering a wide range of services and solutions to local businesses, institutions, and individuals.

“In successfully connecting the dots over the decades, we’ve developed a highly diverse mindset that has enabled us to launch in new areas and to add more value,” says Salomon Doumith. “My children – Aziz, Andrew, Alex, and Allison Doumith – have picked up the mantle and ran with it. Their continued dedication will allow ACT to grow well into the future.”

Through close partnerships with world-renowned companies, ACT provides a wide range of Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer IT-related products and services.

The company offers everything from enterprise hardware and software to network infrastructure, cyber security solutions, data center facility solutions, cloud computing solutions, internet access services, consumer electronics, and e-commerce solutions.

The company has also been working with the government to automate central government and statutory bodies. It is heavily involved in the country’s research, planning, and installation of major computer systems.

With the launch of its internet services, ACT-Online, the company has consolidated its position as the leading single-source technology provider in Antigua and as a builder of the new information society in the Caribbean region.

ACT is committed to providing customers with the highest quality products and services expediently and courteously and supporting the community. The company has been introducing technology into classrooms, donating equipment to non-profit organizations, sponsoring cultural events, and assisting sportsmen and sportswomen since its inception.

Over the years, Antigua Computer Technology has built a reputation as a top IT retailer on the island, thanks in large part to its network of partners.

Salomon Doumith emphasizes the importance of these partnerships, saying, “We have a huge international partnership base, including APC by Schneider Electric, HP, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Aruba Networks, Webroot, Newgen, Cisco, IBM, GreenTech Solar, RadioShack, Lenovo, HID Global, and Microsoft.”

These partnerships have enabled ACT to offer its customers a wide range of trusted technology products. The company’s retail department, which operates under the ACT Retail and RadioShack brands, has three locations and specializes in consumer electronics.

Alex Doumith, the Retail Manager, notes, “I’ve known ACT and RadioShack’s retail customers since I was a young boy. I now nurture those business relationships as we expand our retail presence.”

The quality of ACT’s partners reflects the company’s prestige and success over the years. Salomon Doumith adds, “We partner with the very best, and we know that we would not be where we are today were it not for our partners.”

ACT TeleDome, a subsidiary of Antigua Computer Technology (ACT), offers world-class data center solutions for businesses looking to secure and protect their information systems. The state-of-the-art facility, which is Free-Trade Zone approved, boasts high-capacity fiber, redundant power and data communications connections, and superior environmental controls, ensuring 99.999-percent uptime for clients.

Aziz Doumith, Operations Manager, states, “Our data center infrastructure will ensure 99.999-percent uptime of our client’s information systems, allowing full business continuity, even during unexpected outages.”

In addition to data center solutions, ACT provides a wide range of cyber security services to protect businesses from digital threats.

Aziz Doumith notes, “With many of today’s transactions occurring digitally and most people logged in online for work and personal activities, a prime opportunity emerged for hackers.”

To address this, the company offers next-gen firewalls, endpoint protection and management, and other customized cybersecurity solutions for enterprises.

One of their crucial security partners is Cisco, which offers end-to-end cyber security solutions, including their Cisco Meraki solution, which leverages the cloud for real-time threat detection and protection.

ACT’s commitment to providing its clients with the best and most advanced technology solutions is evident in its data center and cyber security services.

Aziz Doumith states, “The world has turned digital overnight, so the measures must be in place to facilitate safety and security within that new working environment. And ACT has many solutions across the board to accommodate that shift.”

For over three decades, ACT has been at the forefront of technology in Antigua and Barbuda, providing a wide range of IT-related products and services to local and regional customers.

One of the company’s most recent innovations is AllMart, Antigua’s first local online marketplace. Andrew Doumith, Business Development Manager, explains: “AllMart represents an infinite number of storefronts, each offering their unique brand. Customers can appreciate the transparency of knowing exactly where their products are coming from. They always know they can visit their seller locally should they have any issues, and most importantly, they know that their purchases support the local business community.”

ACT’s commitment to sustainability is also evident in its renewable energy division, GreenTech Solar ACT. The company offers solar, wind, and energy storage battery systems to “make switching to renewable energy, or even just lessening their reliance on the grid, as easy and cost-efficient as possible,” says Salomon Doumith.

As a second-generation family business, ACT is poised for continued growth and success in the future. Salomon Doumith’s four children manage the company’s Operations, Business Development, Retail, and Brand & Marketing divisions, respectively, and have a shared vision to bring the Antiguan community into the future through technological advancements.

“As a team, we have a lot to contribute to the development of Antigua,” Salomon Doumith confidently concludes.
